Meriyama, wife of Ravikumar Devaraj, Dandeli, has alleged that her husband went to Saudi Arabia in search of job and has died under mysterious circumstances and demanded an inquiry into the incident.
Speaking at a press meet here on Saturday she said she received a phone call from one Ravi, hailing from Hyderabad but residing at Saudi Arabia, giving her the news of Ravikumar Devaraj’s death. However he was not able to give the cause of death, she said.
“Yesudas Krishna Harijan from Dandeli had promised a good job for Ravikumar at Saudi and had arranged for passport and visa. He had charged Rs 80,000 for this,” she said.
Ravikumar had gone to Saudi but had called home to tell his wife that he was working for Ahmed Muhammad Amin Razi company but he was being ill treated.
He later shifted to Al Khaseem Gulf Recycle company but here too he was ill treated. Hence Ravikumar Devaraj wanted to return to India, she said.
Lawyer Josh, who was present at the press meet said an officer from the Bangalore airport called to say that Ravikumar’s body had reached the airport and it must be removed immediately. However when the family went to collect it there was no passport with the body and no other information, leading to suspicion of foul play.
