KCCI recognised as exam centre

The professional Qualifying Examinations were successfully conducted at the KCCI Exim Facilitation Centre recently.

The number of students who appeared for the examination in Mangalore are
Introduction to Shipping —12, legal principles in shipping business — 12,
economics of sea transport — 13, shipping business —14, ship operations and management — 2 and tanker chartering — 2

In all, 17 Candidates were registered to take 65 papers. The age of candidates varied from 24 years to 54 years who came from all parts of the local shipping industry including three holding Master Mariner Qualifications. With Mangalore being declared an exam centre, the candidates save time, money and energy as the other two nearest exam centres are Chennai and Mumbai.

KCCI Vice-President G G Mohandas Prabhu officiated as ICS local centre organiser and K N S Shetty, KCCI Manager as the ICS Local Centre invigilator.

KCCI plans to launch next course around June 1. The Group II and Group III specialisation papers classes for some subjects like port agency, port and terminal management, ship operations and management, marine insurance, shipping law will also be covered for 2011 Professional Qualifying Examinations besides Group I.
