Police Commissioner Sunil Agarwal told Deccan Herald, police personnel were deployed at various locations coinciding with the media briefing of Home Minister R Ashoka in Bangalore regarding the case. Those persons who try to disturb peace will be severely dealt, the police officer warned. He also said that the police are ready to face any eventuality.

Man gets lifer

A man convicted of murder and robbery of a woman has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

Thahir Nissar of Akbar Road had carried a murderous attack on Shivamma in November, 2009 when the latter was at her coconut shop, on the same road.

He had fled with gold valuables of the victim. Shivamma succumbed to her injuries at a hospital, after two months. Nissar was later arrested by the investigating officer C Kiran Kumar and inspector of Mandi Police Station had submitted a chargesheet to the court.

Judge of Second ADJ Court Somashekar sentenced Nissar to life, besides imposing a fine of Rs 25,000.
