The state government has decided to amend the Gazetted Probationers (Appointment by Competitive Examination) Rules, 1996, paving way for more number of gazetted probationers to appear for interviews conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).

At present, only three persons can be interviewed for a post. The 1:3 ratio has been increased to 1:5, allowing five applicants to be interviewed for one government post.
At a meeting held on Monday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asked the KPSC officials to bring in two amendments for the prevailing rules.
