Governor H R Bhardwaj has written to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to take “immediate” and “effective” steps to implement the recommendations of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) that probed the irregularities in selection of candidates for the posts of Gazetted Probationers Group ‘A’ and ‘B,’ by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).
Bhardwaj’s move comes in the wake of a delegation of members of the Loksatta party submitting a memorandum to him, along with the CID report, on the alleged large-scale irregularities in the KPSC.
The Governor’s office despatched the letter to the chief minister on January 18, copies of which the Loksatta party released to the media on Wednesday.
The CID in its recommendations has sought prosecution of former KPSC chairperson Gonal Bhimappa, member Mangala Sridhar and others for their alleged involvement in the scam. It has also recommended fresh interviews for the 326 gazetted posts. “It is a matter of concern that the affairs of the Public Service Commission, a constitutional body, led to large public outcry in the State”, the Governor stated.
