KPTCL employees stage dharna alleging negligence by officers

The agitators alleged that the Section Officer of Peresandra asked lineman Anand to climb the electric pole without cutting off the power supply. As a result, Anand, who suffered electric shock has lost control of his both legs and battling for life at M S Ramaiah hospital in Bangalore.

Of late, there had been an increase in similar mishaps. Several employees of KPTCL are even losing life in such electrical mishaps. The management, however, has failed to initiate any action against the erring officers. Some office-bearers of KPTCL Employees Association have been backing such officers, they alleged.

They also alleged that officers assaulted the employees who approached the former seeking justice for the injured lineman.The dereliction on the part of the officer has caused grievous injury to the lineman, who is now battling for life, the agitating employees alleged.
The protesters demanded that the Corporation should bear the medical expenses of the injured lineman, suspend the Section Officer on the charge of dereliction of duty, institute an inquiry and dismiss him from service and pay compensation to the family of Anand.
The president of the SC/ST Employees’ Welfare Association Emkanaika, secretary Narasimhamurthy, Srinivas, Ashwatyanarayana and others took part in the dharna.
