KSOU to start admissions for 17 courses: VCDH News Service, Mysuru

After the University Grants Commission (UGC) sanctioned recognition to the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), the varsity authorities are preparing to start the admission process for 17 courses.

KSOU Vice Chancellor D Shivalingaiah told reporters on Friday that the UGC has sanctioned recognition to 17 courses for a period of five years from 2018-19 to 2022-2023. As per the UGC guidelines, the last date for admission is October 1. The UGC had withdrawn the recognition of the university due to technical reasons in June 2015, with effect from the academic year 2013-14.

Admission for courses such as BA, BCom, Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLibISc), MA (Kannada), MA (English), MA (Hindi), MA (Urdu), MA (Ancient History and Archaeology), MA (History), MA (Economics), MA (Political Science), MA (Public Administration), MA (Sociology), MA (Journalism and Mass Communication), MCom, BLibISc, MSc (Environmental Science), will be provided.

The courses will be offered at KSOU Regional Centres at the district level and at 51 Study Centres under the jurisdiction of the university within Karnataka.

The prospectus, application form, and chalan form for payment of fee are uploaded in the university’s official website www.ksoumysore.karnataka.gov.in. Students can download the application forms from the site and can submit the applications after remitting the fees in any of the branches of State Bank of India along with necessary documents and fee paid chalan to the Regional Centre of the students’ choice and obtain acknowledgment. Students should have passed PUC or equivalent examination for admission to under graduate course and should have passed a minimum of three years or more than three years of under graduate degree or equivalent examination for admission to post-graduate courses., he said.
