KSOU to offer PG science courses

M G Krishnan, vice-chancellor of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), announced on Tuesday that they would start post- graduate courses in five science streams.

The courses would be in physics, chemistry, microbiology, bio-chemistry and bio-technology, he said, addressing the 13th convocation of the university. Krishnan announced that construction work of the new KSOU building would be completed soon.

“The convocation building on the new campus will be the venue for the 14th convocation,” he said.

KSOU has purchased lands for regional centres in Mandya, Hassan, Davangere, Dharwad, Chamarajanagar and Bellary districts, he said. A total of 11 regional centres were opened last year.

He said the number of students applying for courses at the open university had grown three-fold in the last three years. As many as 3.95 lakh students had enrolled in 2012-13, of which 2.2 lakh students were being taught directly by the
faculty of KSOU, he said.
