A team of six officials from the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) inspected Biocon Limited near Anekal on Wednesday following a complaint that the company’s waste disposal was not scientific.

The complainant, Wing Commander (Retired) G B Athri, had also complained that foul smell was emanating from the factory.

KSPCB member secretary M N Vijay Kumar told Deccan Herald that the team was sent to check the foul smell. “We were also told that Biocon was not taking proper pollution control measures. The team went to examine whether scientific garbage disposal measures were adopted,” he added.
KSPCB Chairman Vaman Acharya said the officials will submit their report in three to four days. The officials have inspected the site, but what observations have been made will be revealed later, he added.
