Commuters who had come to the Central Bus Stand to travel towards different destinations for work and other reasons were stranded. They were seen inquiring about buses and alternate modes of travel available. Some of them formed groups and travelled in maxicabs who made the most of the strike.

Bus stops at different places witnessed commuters waiting for buses and many appeared to be ignorant about the strike.

Students from rural areas who use bus services to reach their schools and colleges could not make it in the early hours of the strike.

Police Commissioner Bhushan Borase informed reporters that about 30 per cent buses were plying from Central Bus Stand here. We have provided security for them. Private vehicles have been cautioned against demanding excess fares.

NWKRTC officials were updating us about the situation. Meetings were also held on Monday to face the strike situation, he said.
