KSRTC collected Rs 1.85-cr penalty from public smokers in 4 yrs

In the past four years, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has collected more than Rs 1.85 crore as fine from violators who were ca­ught smoking in public places. Around 92,000 passengers have been penalised so far. 

KSRTC has been imposing a penalty of Rs 200 for smoking in public places. It released the information at a programme on Wednesday to observe ‘World No Tobacco Day’ at the satellite bus stand on Mysuru Road. The event organised by KSRTC, ‘World No Tobacco Day 2017’- A threat to Development, was launched by pouring water on tobacco products collected during the enforcement drive at bus stands.
