The Karnatak University, Dharwad, (KUD) has announced honorary doctorates to nine eminent persons, including Padmaraj Dandavati, executive editor of Kannada daily Prajavani, sister publication of Deccan Herald, for journalism.
KUD vice-chancellor H B Walikar announced the list of awardees to reporters here on Monday.
The other awardees are: Jnanapith awardee Chandrashekar Kambar (literature), Supreme Court senior counsel Sharath Javali (judiciary), VRL Logistics Managing Director Vijay Sankeshwar (industrialist), Dr Marigouda Nagraju (philanthropist), Dr V S Sonde (educationist), M Srinivasan (social service), former chief minister of Goa Shashikala Kakodkar and Pandit M Venkateshkumar (music).
They will be presented with the D Litt degrees during the 64th annual convocation of the varsity to be held at Gandhi Bhavan on the university campus on March 25 (Tuesday).
