New Delhi: Criticising Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for skipping Niti Aayog Governing Council meeting, Union Steel Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Saturday said that the CM should not indulge politics in development of the state.

"Siddaramaiah sitting in Bengaluru and criticising the central government is of no use. Having presented fourteen budgets, how appropriate is it for him to be absent from the Niti Aayog meeting? " Kumaraswamy said.

"Sacrificing the state’s interests for political prestige is wrong. Without dialogue, how can issues be resolved? The CM should have participated in the such an important meeting held to debate and prepare national policy on various issues, " the Minister said.

"At least in future, the CM should participate in such meetings for the sake of the state’s interests. In a federal system, we must work together. Politics should not harm the state’s development, " Kumaraswamy said.
