Siddaramaiah lays out 1,000-day roadmap for Karnataka in speech meant for NITI Aayog meet

'Karnataka’s roadmap for the next 1,000 days is a declaration of intent: to lead by example, inspire by action, and govern with purpose', Siddaramaiah said.

Bengaluru: Achieving 100 per cent piped water coverage and establishing Karnataka as South Asia's Electric Vehicle capital are among targets Karnataka wants to meet in the next 1,000 days, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told the NITI Aayog on Saturday.

Siddaramaiah laid out his government's 1,000-day roadmap in a speech he was to deliver at the NITI Aayog's governing council meeting, which he skipped.

The chief minister's office, however, released a copy of the speech.

"Karnataka’s roadmap for the next 1,000 days is a declaration of intent: to lead by example, inspire by action, and govern with purpose. We aim to build a state where growth is just, opportunity is universal, and governance is deeply human," Siddaramaiah said.

On the 1,000-day agenda is achieving full digital and financial inclusion of women, transforming every taluk into a Skill District, doubling the area under organic farming, expanding early warning systems to all vulnerable regions and making Karnataka the country's most-efficient service delivery state.

Siddaramaiah also listed out challenges India faces in becoming a developed nation by 2047.

"The real challenge is ensuring equitable development," he said. "The journey to 2047 cannot be purely economic, it must also be socially harmonious and constitutionally anchored."

Siddaramaiah said "rising polarisation, exclusionary narratives, and erosion of trust in institutions weaken the very foundations of our Republic".

He told the NITI Aayog that commitment towards "pluralism, justice, and the rule of law" must be reaffirmed.
