Udaya Ravi, Rashtrakavi Kuvempu's residence in Mysuru, will be developed as a national poet monument to introduce the thoughts of the great poet to the next generation, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced in his 2018-19 budget.

The budget also seeks to boost Kannada software development and research through fellowships for students working in these areas.

The government will frame a new programme called Janapada Samskruthika Bharatha, which aims to introduce Karnataka's folklore and cultural areas to India and folk art from other parts of the country to people in the state. Similarly, a literary-cultural programme will be organised to commemorate the centenary of poet Gopalakrishna Adiga.
