In a bizarre case of birth defect, a lamb was born with no nose, eyes on its forehead and a big mouth at Benkipura village in the taluk, recently.
Hundreds of villagers flocked to the house of Nanjappa and Puttamma couple to catch a glimpse of the lamb.
The lamb sucked milk from the udder of sheep for two days. However, it developed breathing problems and died three days later.
The couple, along with the villagers, did everything to keep the lamb alive. They were planning to give it to the veterinary department for study. But the little one did not survive for long, said a doctor of Turuvekere veterinary hospital.
