Chief Minister Siddaramaiah appears to be extra cautious about his assets following the row over his wristwatch. It was evident on Saturday as a coterie of Siddaramaiah’s aides restrained the media from taking photographs of his under- construction house at his native Siddaramanahundi in Mysuru.
Siddaramaiah’s personal assistant Kumar and civil engineer N C Anand, entrusted with the task of building the house, forced print media shutterbugs and television camera persons to delete the photos and video footage. Even reporters were not allowed to take a stroll beyond the house. Anticipating the chief minister’s visit, policemen were deployed to guard the house.
Deccan Herald’s photographer made another attempt at taking pictures of the house later and succeeded, but from a corner, with a policeman keenly watching him. According to sources, the house-warming ceremony was earlier planned in March before or after Siddarameshara jatra, but for the pending works. Though nothing has been confirmed yet, it may take another four to five months for the ceremony, said a source.
The house on Rama Mandira Beedi, modelled after ‘thotti manes’, usually seen in villages, has three bedrooms, a hall, kitchen, puja room and dining area. The painting work has been completed and country tiles cover a part of the roof. Work on the roads surrounding the house is underway.
