Leopards and bears straying into the villages and towns on the forest fringes are nothing unusual in Tumakuru district. But a leopard went further by barging into the house of Ranganath on Ist Cross, Jayanagar East, in Tumakuru on Saturday morning.

The leopard strayed into the house of Ranganath, a retired KSRTC employee, when the Forest department personnel were conducting operation to trap the big cat.

During the operation the leopard pounced on forest guard Govindaraju and injured him on lower back.
