The forest personnel had placed the trap 15 days ago. As many as 20 hens, six sheep, a cow and three calves had fallen prey to the big cat at Alattalahundi, Kattemanuganahalli, Motta, Krishnapura and Heggadapura villages around the town. The leopard had been creating problems for the farmers in these villages during the last two years.
The leopard was caught when it tried to hunt the dog, kept as a bait in the trap laid by the forest department.
