'Lingambudhi day' on Thursday

Commemorating the construction of Lingambudhi lake 184 years ago by Lingarajammanni, wife of ruler of Mysore state Krishna Raja Wadiyar, June 7 will be celebrated as ‘Lingambudhi day’.

According to the press release issued by Lingambudhi Forest Committee, which
functions out of the zonal forest officer’s office in Ashokapuram, an event has been organised at Kuteera, located on the main entrance (towards Ramakrishna Nagar) of the lake 5 pm on the day.

Forest officer D Gaonkar, corporator Shankar, environmentalist Bapu Satyanarayana, K B Sadananda, Kushalappa and former Maj Gen Vombatkere will be present on the occasion.

The lake was dedicated to the people living in this part of Mysore on June 7, 1828.
