"Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana should not be limited to Karnataka alone. It should be organised in the other states, where Kannadigas are present in large numbers," said Chandrashekar Patil (Champa), the president of the 83rd Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, scheduled to begin in Mysuru on Friday.

After being felicitated by the members of Kannada Sene in Mandya, en route to Mysuru on Thursday, Champa said, "A few people are of the opinion that the literary fest should be conducted once in three years. I personally feel that the sammelana, which highlights the importance of Kannada language should be held every year. The literary festival, that becomes an inspiration for several movements, should be held every year. The convention has neither religion nor caste."

"The heritage capital of Mysuru brings to our minds the popular Mysuru Palace, Dasara celebration, Chamundi Hill and poet Kuvempu. We all have the responsibility to follow Kuvempu's ideology. Hence, the Sammelana gains significance," Champa said.

The need of the hour is Kannada soldiers, who will protect and develop the language. Sammelanas play a major role in finding solutions to the problems faced by the land and the language, he said.
