Taking suo motu cognizance of the II PUC fiasco based on newspaper reports, the Lokayukta on Friday directed the principal secretary, primary and secondary education, and others to take steps to rectify the anomalies in the results. A parents’ association also filed a complaint to the Lokayukta.

Lokayukta Justice Y Bhaskar Rao has directed the principal secretary, primary and secondary education, and director, Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE), to immediately take steps to rectify the errors and provide all facilities for re-totaling, recalculation and providing of answer scripts to the students.

“The performance of these functions is the duty cast upon the authorities under the statutes. The principal secretary and the director of the DPUE shall appear personally and submit the compliance report within seven days on or before May 30,” the order stated.

It added: “The reports stated that parents and students are demanding postponement of CET results on grounds that if the results are announced, students, whose marks are wrong and those whose result sheets show them as absent would be more aggrieved. Suo motu cognizance has been taken under the provisions of section 7 (1) (b) of Lokayukta Act.”
