Lokayukta plaint: Govt to issue notice to IPS officer

The State government on Friday decided to issue a show-cause notice to Sushanth Mahapatra, senior IPS officer and chairman, Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation (KSPHC), for approaching the Lokayukta and complaining against another IPS officer M N Reddi accusing him of misusing the office during his tenure in KSPHC.

A source from the Home Department said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah held a meeting with Home Minister K J George, Director General and Inspector General of Police Om Prakash and other senior officers and ministers in this regard. “It was decided to issue a show-cause notice to Mahapatra, in a day or two, for approaching the Lokayukta. We will wait for his to reply before taking further action,” the source said.

Mahapatra,  the senior most IPS officer in the State, had accused Reddi, presently, Bengaluru Police Commissioner and a few other officers for misusing powers when they were posted in the KSPHC. Reddi was the managing director of KSPHC in 2012. When contacted, Home Minister George said that the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) was looking into the matter.
