The Special Lokayukta Court has given the Lokayukta police time till June 30 to investigate the land grab case against MLA Nehru Olekar.

Lokayukta Superintendent of Police, Kammara, sought two months’ time from the court as the probe was yet to be completed. Special Lokayukta Court judge K C Ramakrishna agreed to give time till June 30. Earlier, the police had been asked to submit their report on April 19.

The MLA, his son Manjunath Olekar and daughter Lakshmi Olekar, are alleged to have been given a site illegally for the Dr B R Ambedkar Educational Institution by the Haveri Urban Development Authority (HUDA).

Erappa Lamani had filed a private complaint saying that the MLA had used his influence in illegally acquiring the site. HUDA chairman and then  CMC commissioner Virapur had helped the MLA in the act.
