The Lokayukta special court has ordered investigation into the alleged sale of Wakf property by Minister for Municipal Administration and Wakf Qamar-ul Islam.

A private complaint was filed by Tabrez Pasha of Kolar alleging that Islam and his family members had used eight acres and 34 cents of Wakf property in Gulbarga and sold it after carving out 198 sites. The complainant alleged that Islam was a member of the Wakf Board in 1998 when the alleged scam took place.

The Board had eight acres and 34 cents of property in survey number 12 in Badepura village in Gulbarga. Qamarul Islam allegedly created a General Power of Attorney and sold the land as sites. On Thursday, Lokayukta special court Judge C G Bopaiah ordered the Lokayukta police to investigate the matter.
