Lokayukta superintendent of police Mopareddy said that Gurusiddaiah, the government servant, had demanded Rs 30,000 from Krishnappa, an auction purchaser of a site.

Krishnappa was the successful bidder for a site during auction held in the year 2000. He bid Rs 30,000 for the site and paid Rs 10,000 as first installment.

However, the site could not be registered since a suit was filed against the municipality in respect of the site. The judgment was delivered in 2009 and the officials were citing lame excuses to execute a sale deed.

Revenue inspector Gurusiddaiah demanded Rs 30,000 for registration and after negotiation the amount was reduced to Rs 15,000, Mopareddy told presspersons.

Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police Budihal, inspector Krishna K Lamani, personnel Janardan, Ramachandra and Mallikarjun conducted the operation.
