LPG tankers' stir from today

The South Zone Motor Transport Welfare Association, on Tuesday said the LPG tanker owners will go on an indefinte strike from February 29, which is likely to hit the supply of LPG cylinders across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala.

The decision to keep about 3,600 tankers off the road has already been conveyed to the oil companies. “Our demands have not been met despite being promised,” a press release said.

They are pressing for various demands, including renewal of transport tenders. The oil companies, the association said, had promised to issue tenders to all the 3,600 participants. These tankers transport LPG cylinders from Mangalore and Vishakapatnam refineries to various locations.
