On the occasion of Chowti, ‘made snana’ was observed at the Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Temple on Tuesday.

As many as 229 devotees observed the ritual in the afternoon. After the mahapooja, meals were served to the members of the Brahmin community in the corridors of the temple.

Later, the devotees, including women and children, belonging to various castes, took an oath and observed the ritual.

Following opposition to the ritual, tight police security was provided at the venue.
Meanwhile, members of the Karnataka Rajya Hindulida Vargagala Jagrutha Vedike and other organisations held a protest in front of deputy commissioner’s office at Mangaluru and also organised an awareness programme.

The protesters, comprising seers from various mutts, urged the government to impose a ban on ‘made snana.’
