Around 100 triathletes took part with great enthusiasm in the Dasara Triathlon competitions, organised for the first time, by the Tourism Department and the district administration, in the city, on Sunday.

In Super Sprint Triathlon for Men and Women (above 16 years), Keerthikumar from Bengaluru and Geethika Basappa from Kodagu emerged winners respectively.

T H Omkar and Abhijna Anand, both from Bengaluru, won the Sprint Triathlon for men and momen (above 16 years) category respectively.

In the Sprint Triathlon for Under-16 gilrs, Shruvi Arun Patil clinched first place while Nihar Naik and H N Nagasiri bagged top prize in the Super Sprint Triathlon Under-16 years for boys and girls.

Sprint Triathlon

In the Sprint Triathlon, the triathletes competed in 750 metres swimming, 20 km cycling and 5 km running.

The Super Sprint category included 400 metres swimming, 10 km cycling and 2.5 km running.

The triathlon, one of the most enduring sports, saw a 67-year-old senior citizen Piyush Kanthi Das and a 10-year-old boy Yajith compete with energy and enthusiasm.
