Celebrations in the district continue in peace, said District Superintendent of Police Dr T D Pawar.

“There have been only minor cases of communal violence or clash, not serious enough to wreck the feeling of solidarity,” he said during a Souharda Samiti meeting at the Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavan on Monday. The meeting was organised in the backdrop of Dasara and Bakrid.

“Joining the celebrations of other religions and communities only strengthens one’s social relations. It also helps us deal with minor clashes or differences with greater ease and success,” he said.

“Ayudha Pooja is on October 23, the next day, October 24 is Vijayadashami, Bakrid is on October 26 and Valmiki Jayanthi is on October 29. We must take care not to make way for any indecorous or unseemly incidents on any of these occasions. Simplicity should be our motto while celebrating festivals socially,” he requested.

Pawar added that the Police Department would provide security to help maintain peace during community celebrations.

Community leaders Ravi Krishnappa, Iqbal Ahmed, B N Gangadharappa, Amirjaan and others spoke during the meeting. Deputy Commissioner Dr N Manjula, Assistant Commissioner Satish Kumar and DySP A B Devaiah were present on the occasion.
