'Make BSY party chief to win polls'

It will be easy for the Bharatiya Janata Party to win the next Assembly elections, if former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa is made State unit president, said B J Puttaswamy, Co-operation Minister.

He told reporters here on Sunday that Yeddyurappa was  the unquestionable leader and crowd-puller. Defending his leader, Puttaswamy said the former chief minister had not said anything against the party when he sought the post of the State unit president.

“He has only sought post of the president with an intention to lead the party to victory in the coming elections,” he added.

Sacking Yeddyurappa’s other supporters – Ayanur Manjunath as spokesperson and Dhananjay Kumar as the State’s special representative in New Delhi – was a disciplinary action taken by the party and had no special connotations attached to it, he said.
