Actor Malavika Avinash quit the JD(S) to join the BJP on Friday. Malavika, who had joined the JD(S) one and half years ago, said she was disappointed by the party but refused to elaborate.
Malavika, who has acted in several television serials, was inducted into the BJP by party State president Pralhad Joshi. Malavika said she had always been inspired by senior BJP leader L K Advani and the party’s decision to elevate Narendra Modi as its prime ministerial candidate prompted her to join the party.
Malavika said she always wanted to become a law maker and intends to pursue a full time career in politics in the coming years.
Malavika’s husband veteran actor Avinash was present on the occasion.
