Mangaluru: A case has been registered at the Mangaluru East Police Station against an individual who, by falsely promising jobs abroad to the complainant, took Rs 1,65,000 from him.
He also defrauded several youths by collecting approximately Rs 1.82 crore under the same pretence, thereby committing a serious breach of trust. The case is currently under investigation by the CCB unit, said Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal.
In connection with the case, Masiulla Atiulla Khan, aged around 36 years, son of Atiulla Khan and a resident of Mumbai — has been taken into police custody for further investigation.
Previously, another case was also registered at the Mangaluru East Police Station in December 2024 based on a complaint from immigration officials. In that case, the accused had allegedly opened a company without obtaining any proper licence and had falsely promised jobs abroad.
Both the cases have now been transferred from the Mangaluru East Police Station to the CCB for further investigation, the Commissioner said.
