<p>Mangaluru: Two police officers have been suspended with immediate effect for serious lapses in handling criminal cases related to fraudulent overseas job recruitment in Mangaluru city.</p><p>Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal said that Inspector Somasekhar G C of Mangaluru East Police Station, has been suspended for failing to take appropriate legal action against M/s Hireglow Elegant Overseas International Pvt Ltd, despite prior complaints and directions. His inaction and lack of supervision allowed the accused to continue defrauding several job aspirants of over Rs 1.82 crore.</p><p>PSI Umesh Kumar M N, presently posted at Barke Police Station and previously Investigating Officer in Mangaluru East Police Station, has also been suspended for multiple investigative lapses. These include failure to arrest the accused, collect vital evidence, examine victims and witnesses, and act on financial leads, thereby seriously compromising the investigation.</p>.Policeman injured in stone pelting in Sedam taluk.<p>The Commissioner said that both officers had demonstrated negligence, irresponsibility, and breach of duty. Departmental disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against them, he added.</p><p>It may be recalled that Avaneesh Shukla, the Protector of Emigrants (POE) for Karnataka and Goa, under the Ministry of External Affairs, had recently received credible information regarding unauthorised interviews being conducted for overseas job placements. </p><p>Two separate cases of illegal recruitment including that of M/s Hireglow Elegant Overseas International Pvt Ltd and FIR was registered in connection with it.</p>
