Venoor police have arrested a person for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor and impregnating her.
The arrested is Sathish alias Shashi (21).
The victim had come in contact with and befriended the man during a visit to her grandmother’s place. The relationship was continued through an exchange of phone numbers.
In January, the man took the victim to a secluded area and sexually assaulted her.
A few days ago, when the girl’s mother took her to a hospital, the news of pregnancy was revealed. Unable to accept it, the mother committed suicide three years ago.
When her relatives and the police questioned her, the girl revealed her relationship with the man and explained the incident.
The police filed a case under Pocso Act.
