Man dies of suspected dengue

A man died of suspected dengue in Duradundi village of Gokak taluk on Sunday.

Kusanappa Hukkeri (37) was admitted to Dr Prabhakar Kore Hospital. However, he failed to respond to the treatment and died.

Dr D C Munnolli, District Health Officer, told Deccan Herald that Kusanappa died of suspected dengue. He, however, clarified that no fresh dengue cases were reported in the village.

“Kusanappa had been earlier treated for suspected dengue. He was admitted to the KLE hospital for the viral infection of the brain (viral encephalitis) on Friday.

However, he tested negative for the fever,” Dr Munnolli said. The Health Department’s contingency team was camping in Duradundi village to create awareness about the disease

. The residents have been instructed to drink boiled water and also fogging was being carried out in the village, he said.
