The victim Girijamma (50) and her son Manju (25) residents of Madhugiri had come to the house of Roopa, Manju’s cousin at Kandavara village.
On Friday, around 3.30 am Manju, on the pretext of offering a pooja, took his mother to an abandoned field. He allegedly slit her throat and threw the body near a tree, returned home to sleep. He was arrested in the morning when he was trying to flee.
