A 60-year-old man was washed away while crossing a footbridge, at Sullia in Dakshina Kannada district on Saturday.
According to officials, the deceased is Aitha (60), a resident of Dalit Colony at Aletti. It is said that when Aitha was crossing the footbridge, it was raining heavily. He slipped and fell into a stream flowing below and was washed away.
Meanwhile, more than 30 houses have been partially damaged as heavy rains are lashing the district, coupled with gusty winds, since Friday night. A total of 28 houses at Amblamogaru and two houses in Manjanady were damaged partially.
