As many as 214 teams took part in the hockey utsav which was commenced on April 18. Finally, Mukkateera and Palanganda teams have entered the finals. The final match will be held at 2 pm.

The 14th edition of the hockey utsav was inaugurtaed by Maneyapanda family’s Pattedara M W Ayyappa on April 18, which was attended by Union Minister for Sports M S Gill and Lieutenant General Changappa. The inaugural session saw a thrilling match between Indian team lead by Dhanraj Pillai and Kodagu 11 led by Olympian C S Poonaccha. The exhibition match was won by Kodagu 11.

Interestingly, the Mukkattera team is entering the finals for the first time.

Meanwhile, for the first time in the history of family hockey, the family members of Manyepanda provided an opportunity for the spectators to enjoy the beauty of nature in helicopter. A temporary helipad was created for the purpose in the paddy field of Siddu Nachappa on Kunda road in Ponnampet. Six passengers were taken at a time in helicopter. The helicopter had flew over Kunda betta, Thithimathi, Bittangala, B Shettigeri, Barapole and other places.

In the valedictory, Uttarkhan IGP A M Ganapathy, Embassy group’s Jithu Virvani will take part. A musical nite by Guru Kiran will be held in the evening.
