Mangaluru: The Mulki police have arrested Srinivas Shetty alias Sheenu, an associate of the notorious underworld fugitive Kali Yogish, who had been absconding for several years.

According to commissioner of police Sudheer Kumar Reddy, Srinivas (45), son of the late Krishna Shetty, a resident of Chitrapu village in Mulki taluk, was an accused in a case registered at Mulki Police Station under the Karnataka Control of Organized Crimes Act (KCOCA). He had been evading arrest and court appearance for the past eight years, prompting the Principal District and Sessions Court, Mysuru, to issue a warrant against him.

Acting on credible information that the accused was hiding in Mumbai, a special team was formed under the guidance of Srikanth, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru North Sub-Division, Panambur, and led by Mulki Police Inspector Manjunath BS and Sub-Inspector Umesh Kumar MN. The team, comprising ASI Suresh Kundar and Head Constable Uday, tracked down and apprehended the accused in Mumbai.

Srinivas was produced before the Court , which subsequently remanded him in judicial custody.
