Mangaluru: An undertrial suffered injuries on his leg following a scuffle inside the district prison in Mangaluru on Monday.
Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal said at 6:40 pm, some undertrial inmates in the quarantine cell section of Mangaluru Jail stood near the office area and stared at a few undertrial prisoners in the 'B' barrack.
Following this, an argument broke out between them involving the exchange of abusive language and shouting. During this commotion, they reportedly broke a cement block and threw its pieces.
Meanwhile, a few undertrial prisoners from the 'B' barrack pushed open the gate of the inner door, came out, entered the judicial division room of the office, and damaged the glass on the door by hitting it with their hands.
During the incident, one of the undertrial prisoners sustained a bleeding injury on his leg.
Following this, the Superintendent of Mangaluru Jail has filed a complaint at the Barke Police Station seeking appropriate legal action against the undertrial prisoners involved in the incident.
