Princely rule may have gone but the people’s undiminishing love for the royalty came to fore on December 11 when the people from all walks of life came out on the streets for the final journey of royal scion Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar.

Expressing gratitude to the people’s love, family members of the royal scion have organised a mass feeding on December 23 at 12.30 pm at the ground (riding track) adjacent to Karanji Bungalow, popularly known as Circus Grounds in Nazarbad. It will be open for all from general public to others, according to a release from Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, wife of the late royal scion.

Prior to this, various rituals have been organised starting from 8 am to 12 noon at the Amba Vilas Palace to pay obsequies to the soul of royal scion.

The reading of vedic scriptures is expected to last two hours as a prelude to the padapuja of Rajaguru (religious head of the royal family) Sri Abhinava Vagheesha Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakal Swamiji at 10.30 am.

It will be followed by the reciting of a vedic hymn about  Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, which will be later handed over to Pramoda Devi Wadiyar. The nephews of Wadiyar Chaduranga Kantharaja Urs, Varchasvi Siddalingaraja Urs, Aditya Gurudev and Rudraprathap Singh will  be attending the rituals.

It will be followed by lunch at 12.30 pm for the members of royal families, kith and kin, besides VIPs.
