Addressing mediapersons at the sprawling Mata Amritanandamayi Mutt, Kasavanahalli off Sarjapur Road, the Karnataka head of the organisation Abhayaamrita Chaitanya said the damages caused by the floods in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are extreme and the Mutt is engaged in offering food and medical assistance.

For this purpose, the Mutt has decided to contribute Rs 50 crores for the rehabilitation of the affected people by constructing houses, primary health centres and schools.

“Details are yet to be worked out because these things cannot be done in a way that can lead us to controversies. In the name of helping people we may be ending up harming the affected people. We will wait for the government norms on house construction like, safety norms and the tradition of house construction,” said Chaitanya.
