A team of officers led by Incharge Health Officer M V Sudha conducted a sudden raid on the market premises and found large quantity of plastics with the traders.

They seized the plastics and filled it in gunny bags to transport them for disposal. Many traders who received the information of MCC raid closed their shops and left the market premises, while few others who cared little continued with their usual business.

MCC has strictly asked the traders and businessmen in city to stop using plastics of all kind. The unabated use of plastics despite the directive has prompted the authorities to conduct raids on the shops where plastics are continued to be used.

In fact, the raid has continued on a daily basis. The operation has also come as a blessing in disguise for the MCC to verify the trade licence documents of the shopkeepers and traders. Those doing business without taking trade licence are fined Rs 10,000. Many shops in Agrahara circle were slapped with fine on Tuesday.
