The minister found that a total of 41 staffers had not reported for duty even after the scheduled hours and directed the superintendent to issue notices to all those employees.

During his three-hour inspection, Ramdas visited in-patient wards, X-ray room, operation theatre, laboratory, doctors’ chambers and classrooms of the medical college.

He interacted with the parents of the children admitted to the hospital.

The minister also visited the chamber of Dr Vinayak Prasanna, an assistant professor in Forensic Science at VIMS, recently arrested for irregularities in the PGCET.

Speaking to reporters later, Ramdas said several irregularities during revaluation had come to the fore in the past four years.

A student, who failed in the examinations for four consecutive years, has managed to clear the exams during revaluation, and secure sixth rank in the PGCET, the minister disclosed. He said there was no question of protecting anyone involved in the irregularities.
