A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an engineering student at a veterinary hospital in a village near here on Thursday.
According to police, Marigowda, an employee at the veterinary hospital, had asked his son to stay at the hospital while he went to another village on duty.
The victim had come to her relatives’ house located near the hospital. While playing, she came near the hospital and the accused took her inside and raped her. The incident came to light after the child came home crying.
The accused studies engineering at Sri Jayachamarajendra College in Mysore and had come to the village for vacation. He has been arrested. A complaint has been registered at Bellur police station.
The parents of the child brought the incident to the notice of the village elders. The police too got wind of the crime and arrived at the spot.
Superintendent of Police Bhushan Rao G Borase, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shobharani and other officials too visited the spot.
