The jewellery of the Cheluvanarayanaswamy deity at Melkote, which had gone missing, were surprisingly found in the hundi of the temple on Wednesday. However, the temple authorities are yet to confirm whether or not the valuables are of the temple.
A complaint was lodged with the Melkote police sometime back stating that as many as 32 jewels of the deity had gone missing. An evaluator from the department of Religious Endowments had also submitted a report confirming the charge. However, eight of these jewels were found in the temple hundi on Wednesday.
