Mangaluru Assembly Youth Congress general secretary Karthik Poojary resigned from his post opposing the party decision to deny ticket to Billava candidate for the Lok Sabha elections.
In a press statement, Karthik said the party leaders no longer respected veteran Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary. “The Congress candidate Mithun Rai does not have any respect for party workers who hail from Billava community,” he said and added, “The appeals of those from Hindu community, in Mangaluru Assembly constituency, are falling on deaf ears.”
Poojary also urged Janardhana Poojary to withdraw his pledge to not visit the Kudroli temple if Mithun Rai lost in the hustings.
Along with Karthik, a few more Youth Congress leaders resigned from the party membership and vowed to support Narendra Modi.
