Calling the Narendra Modi government a ‘dhongi’ (farce) government, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Sunday that Modi had not kept his promise to bring back black money stashed in foreign banks and deposit Rs 15 lakh in every individual’s account.

“Has he deposited the money?” he said.

The chief minister was speaking at the 80th birthday celebrations of former chief minister N Dharam Singh here.

“Due to the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, currency worth Rs 15.5 lakh crore (86% of the total currency) was scrapped. But the government did not have sufficient currency to replace it. It will take another 10 months to print the same number of notes.” he said.
