Balehonnur: A 40-year-old timber worker from Masidikere in Balehonnur has been confirmed to have contracted the Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD), also known as Monkey fever.

On January 4, he experienced severe fever, body ache, and fatigue, for which he received treatment at a private hospital.

As the illness did not subside, he was admitted to Koppa Government Hospital on January 20, where KFD was confirmed.

For further treatment, he has been transferred to a private hospital in Mangalore, and his condition is stable, according to government hospital sources.
